Elle Macpherson decided to launch her business to have the control she lacked in the fashion industry.

The Australian fashion icon became one of the most famous models in the world as she rose to fame during the 1980s, and worked with some of the industry’s most prestigious brands including Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Dior. And though her modelling career was going from strength to strength, in 1994 she made the decision to leave Ford Models agency and form her own company, Elle Macpherson Inc. so she was able to choose her own jobs.

?I wanted to be more in control,? she explained in a cover interview with InStyle Australia. ?I wanted to enjoy the projects I was doing and diversify, and also create an income stream that might not have been there if I sat and waited for people to choose me.?

Elle went on to create her own lingerie line Elle Macpherson Intimates which achieved huge international success, beauty products, and she co-founded WelleCo, a company which sells plant-based elixirs with celebrity fans including Kate Moss.

Though the 54-year-old has had decades of experience in the business world, the former Sports Illustrated model believes that the modern age is a perfect time for women to follow their dreams and achieve success.

„2018 has ushered in a fresh new chapter for women globally,“ she smiled. „It?s a very powerful and liberating time to be a woman. I?m hugely excited for the women around me.“

Aside from a hectic career, Elle is also mother to two children, 20-year-old Flynn and 15-year-old Cy, whom she shares with former partner Arpad Busson. And though her youngest son joined her in her photoshoot for the fashion publication, she insisted „school (comes) first“ when asked whether she’d like him to follow in her modelling footsteps.
